Ka’thiew | Cambodian Noodle Soup

Ka’thiew, our Cambodian noodle soup, is often confused with other dishes, but it’s truly in its own lane 🍜 There are many variations, yet my childhood version was always the same: a simple, special bowl of just meatballs and noodles 🤣 Look Yay knew I hated all the extra stuff as a kid, so she’d make mine without sach ko (beef) or toppings.

As I got older, I fell in love with Ka'thiew DRY with bone broth on the side please! IYKYK plus extra chili oil and usually way too much lime 👀 But no matter what, you always have to taste the broth first for quality control before you start Ramsey-ing it up 🤣

Ka’thiew can be made with beef rib / pork bones, shrimp, ground pork, meatballs, or just one main protein. Every family has their own version, but once you’ve tried it, you always recognize it.

But still, nothing will ever beat that childhood bowl of meatballs and noodles Look Yay made just for me 💕
