In Filipino culture, asking Kumain ka na ba? or Did you eaten yet? is so much more than a question. It’s a way of saying “I love you,” “I'm proud of you,” and sometimes, even “I’m sorry.”
Inspired by the ways Filipino families express love through food, this pin, designed by Kody Ignacio, celebrates the unspoken emotions behind a familiar question. Sometimes, love looks like a meal waiting at the table, baon left at your doorstep, or a plate of food offered when the right words are hard to find. It’s a reminder that care doesn’t always come in the form of an apology or an “I love you.” Sometimes, it comes with a simple question: Did you eat yet?
Every detail of this design carries a piece of Filipino familiarity, from the floral pattern on the mother’s clothing to the warm colors inspired by kare-kare, and lettering inspired by a Mama Sita’s seasoning packet.
A small pin with a big heart, Kumain Ka Na Ba honors the beautiful, complicated, and deeply personal ways we show love through food, family, and the things left unsaid. ❤️
